A wonderful couple days in Wichita with the Apprentice Institute and this week I go to Seedbed’s New Room conference in Nashville. Then classes begin… Teachers, underpaid and largely ignored: Hope Brown can make $60 donating plasma from her blood cells twice in one week, and a little more if she sells some of her […]

Wonderful wonderful wonderful week with our third MA in New Testament Context cohort. We had a blast. So much so that the troll wondered what the noise was all about! My cohort named the troll “Gertie of Colosse” and so Gertie is the troll’s name. It is weeks like this and last, when Meanderings is […]

BIBLE SUPERSTARS – MARY

August 28, 2018

John 20
1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. 3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.

Sam spoke during the evening celebrations on the Gospel of Mark as well as seminars during the day on “Sexuality, Jesus, and Good News,” exploring how Jesus’ words on human sexuality are challenging, humbling, and hopeful for all of us.

One pastor told me recently his church is considering “dual” baptism — either infant or upon profession of […]
