New Horizon Festival in Ireland with Sam Allberry

Sam Allberry recently spent the week at New Horizon, a week-long Christian festival in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, which exists to provide a space and time in which thousands of people of all ages can be taught from the Bible, be inspired through worship and story, develop a missional heart, and engage with relevant and challenging issues. Sam spoke during the evening celebrations on the Gospel of Mark as well as seminars during the day on “Sexuality, Jesus, and Good News,” exploring how Jesus’ words on human sexuality are challenging, humbling, and hopeful for all of us.

Babel Fish Needed? (RJS)

I recently received a copy of a new book courtesy of the author and publisher, Faith Across the Multiverse by Andy Walsh. This book is not your typical science and faith book, but it should prove an interesting read as we work through several of the main concepts Walsh introduces. This opening chapter (numbered 0 […]

Give Love, Receive the Kingdom

I recently read through Benedicta Ward’s new book book, Give Love and Receive the Kingdom, a collection of essays and papers. The topic is English spirituality, but it’s early English or Anglo-Saxon spirituality and not modern stuff at all. Having never done any kind of research for […]

Keeping It Local

Keeping Church Local, by Mike Glenn Recently, America has been captivated by the “farm to table” movement in restaurants and grocery shopping. According to this movement, the closer your vegetables are grown to the place where they’re eaten, the better the taste will be. There will be no processing, canning or artificial anything added to […]

What Women Want (Leslie Leyland Fields)

What Christian Women Want, By Leslie Leyland Fields, editor of the recently released The Wonder Years. How did Beth Moore stay silent for so long? Humility, perhaps? Grace? By now, many have read the popular Bible teacher’s “Letter to my brothers,” posted on her Living Proof Ministries Blog on May 4. Sadly, her account of […]

The Spirit And Discernment (Today)

As you may know I’ve recently written a book called Open to the Spirit. This post today is not in the book but something I’m posting just for this blog. Tongues gets too much attention when it comes to being open to the Spirit. If we are open to the Spirit, it means we have to […]
